Technological trends in education

With each new year, there are new educational challenges to which we must know how to adapt. In recent years, innovation in the sector has been based on technological advances in order to amplify education, propose new methodologies that help both the learning of the students and the work of the teacher; and achieve a more transversal diffusion. It is what we know by E-Learning.

To face this new year we propose five technologies that you should be aware of to integrate into the classrooms:

Big data

The processing of the large volumes of data generated in E-Leraning is becoming impossible to address with traditional methods. Therefore, Big Data can help us to have a deeper understanding of the learning process through statistics. It can also give us clues to guide our materials and content, discovering, for example, the digital habits of students or the time that teachers use in each subject, leading to personalized education.

Gamification

Gamification consists of applying the mechanics and techniques of game design to engage and motivate students and thus achieve their objectives. Almost 80% of the students affirm that they could become more productive in their studies with this type of methodology. In addition, 90% of the users of these platforms indicate that they enjoy this type of online game in which they compete with other students.

M-Learning

As a consequence of the increase in mobile use, M-Learning will become the ideal medium to offer educational material. There are several benefits that these devices bring to education, such as ease of access, contextual learning, or the possibility of generating more attractive and easy-to-digest content formats for the student.

Augmented education

The augmented reality integrated education provides learning techniques letter where the environment adapts to the student. Experts indicate that the high demand for this technology will grow from 60 million users in 2013 to 200 million in 2018.

MOOCs

MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses) are open courses for a large number of users, that is, the evolution of open education on the internet. The main characteristics of these courses that make education a more affordable environment are: no enrollment limitation, online monitoring, and they are free.
